Hen-Island-breeding-sites-9-2011

On Hen Island the residents take any leaves and other debris that has washes ashore during the winter and hide it in the high reed areas of the island. This process has been going on for years. It creates massive small pooling pockets throughout the island and as a result we have acres of breeding sites that breed mosquitoes by the millions, not the thousands. You will not believe the infestation on a bad day unless you experience it first-hand. It is often compared to the panama canal of the 20’s.
